These belonged to Ilene Slitely - a little known country singer from the midwest - who had lost her right leg in a farming accident while still in her teens. She went on to release several records in the late 40s which are still highly sought after by collectors today. She commissioned several left-footed Nudie boots and always ordered an extra, taking advantage of Nudie’s ‘Buy One Get The Second One At Half Price’ deal.

Loy Allen Bowlin: The Original Rhinestone Cowboy.

Bowlin was an outsider artist who decorated his home and himself, including his dentures, in rhinestones. After his death in 1995, his home was nearly demolished, but was saved at the last minute and put in an art center in Wisconsin.

Here’s a great bio of The Original Rhinestone Cowboy.

And - boom - that song is playing in my head. On and on….

Well, damn!
